The Rivals, Thee and the New Breed
Tony Savva and Andy Mitchell grew up together on the same street in Kentish Town,North London. Both shared an interest in music, and when they were 15 years of age,in the early sixties, formed a band called The Rivals.
The other members of this band were, Colin Cookson and Bob Steggles. The band split in 1964 and Tony and Andy then went on to form a band called Thee. They received lots of offers from musicians wanting to join the band, but by far,the most talented drummer was Pete, who blew Tony and Andy away with his skills at the audition. Bob,also a very good musician, followed shortly after.
The line up for Thee was:
Pete Balding, drums and vocals Tony Savva, band ss avocals Bob Betts, rhythm guitar and vocals Andy Mitchell, lead guitar and vocals.
The band was formed in 1964 and recorded one single in 1965, with Decca, called Each and Every Day, written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. Thee was managed by Reg King and Andrew Loog Oldham. Reg was previously Andrew Loog Oldham's bodyguard, and Brian Epstein's chauffer. Andrew Oldham was, at that time, manager to the Rolling Stones, and Brian Epstein was manager to the Beatles.
