The Rivals, Thee and the New Breed

Bob then left the band,but Pete,Tony and Andy went on to form The New Breed in 1965, releasing one single on Decca called Friends And Lovers Forever, which reached number 28 in November 1965,on the Radio London charts. This was written by Wes Farrell, who also wrote Hang On Sloopy, which was a major hit for the McCoy's. The New Breed were managed by Don Arden, who is the father of Sharon Osbourne, [ X Factor ] Sharon is married to Ozzy Osbourne,of Black Sabbath fame. Don Arden also managed The Small Faces, Nashville Teens, Electric Light Orchestra, Black Sabbath, Elkie Brooks, Gene Vincent, The Move, Lyndsey De Paul and many others.

In 1965, New Breed, were the opening act for the Rolling Stones UK tour,the first night being in Exeter,but the band had to cut their part of the tour short because Andy was electrocuted by some faulty equipment on the second night of the tour at Portsmouth Guildhall. Some of the artists on the tour were Rod Stewart, Long John Baldry, Julie Driscoll and Brian Auger,who.collectively, were known as The Steam Packet. Also on the tour was Zoot Money.

All three bands toured extensively in the UK during the mid sixties.Thee and New Breed also had regular spots at The Cavern in Liverpool, The Marquee in Soho, The 100 Club in Oxford Street, The Last Chance in Oxford Street, The Lyceum in the Strand, The Alphabet Club in Gerrard Street, The International Club in Earls Court,

The Starlight Rooms in Brighton, The Corn Exchange in Kings Lynn,The Gala in Norwich, and The Dorothy Rooms in Cambridge, just to name a few,and also played gigs with The Small Faces, The Who and Chris Farlowe, but inevitably,the last band the boys were all in, The New Breed, came to an end in 1966.

Pete went on to play with other bands, Tony also played with other bands,and still performs gigs in Cyprus.He has his own web site called ' Samuel Prody'. Andy played in other bands,and did some session work.

Pete,Tony and Andy still remain firm friends.Pete lives in Norfolk,Tony lives in Cyprus and Andy lives in London.It would be nice to hear from anyone who remembers us,and would like to get in touch.
